Infloor heating is not a new concept, but the technology is constantly upgrading and evolving. The concept utilizes a heat source, electric or hot water, and heating the floor by radiation. Infloor heating is used in garages, hangers, helipads and basements, to name a few applications. Radiant heating can also be used in driveways and sidewalks to remove snow and ice in the winters so you will never have to shovel again! Hot water heating is the most common form of in-floor heating and can be used with heat sources ranging from boilers to traditional hot water heaters and can even incorporate instantaneous hot water heaters. You can have a dedicated heat source serving the floor or piggyback on the existing heat source with different systems. Electric in-floor operates on the same principle as hot water, but the mat electricity runs through is very thin and can be easily lain under ceramic tile and wood flooring. There are different types of electric infloor using different currents and voltages, we recommend and install the type that runs on low voltage (24V) because of the efficiency differences between systems. |
